The Clan came into visual. I\u2019d never seen anything like it before. Sure, we\u2019d been given briefs on the Vanduul fleets, but it\u2019s totally different seeing it in front of you. Blurry nose-cams and rough drawings don\u2019t capture the violence that oozes from the very shape of their massive ships. The gravity of the situation wasn\u2019t lost on Teague either. For the first time, he was quiet.\n\nSwarms of fighters swept around the paths of their capital ships, presumably looking for targets, aka us.\n\nTeague was running the various ships against known Vanduul, but didn\u2019t get any hits. Looks like we\u2019d found a new Clan. Not quite as exciting as finding a new jump point, but it\u2019s something I guess.\n\nWhen they\u2019d finally passed, it looked like we were in the clear, but I noticed that they weren\u2019t heading towards a planet to harvest. It didn\u2019t even look like they were heading to the jump to Orion.\n\nThey were heading towards Caliban.\n\nGuess they sent us out here in the nick of time. We\u2019d just fixed up the early warning system by the Caliban jump.\n\nThat\u2019s when Teague saw it. They had stopped. The whole Clan, stopped on a clip, right outside of the scan range of the early warning systems. It was too precise to be a coincidence. No. They understood our tech.\n\nAt this distance, we wouldn\u2019t be able to get anything from our scans outside of basic position, so I told Teague to monitor our sig while I got us in for a closer look. If these Vanduul are up to something, we have to know.\n\nI managed to get us closer so Teague can run some more intensive scans. The Vanduul haven\u2019t moved. They\u2019re just waiting.\n\nSo that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing.
