While the system was part of the [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth)(UEE), deposits of iron, titanium, and other metals in the belt supported a modest mining industry that kept [Cyrene (Virgil I)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VlMBNGnxK5-cyrene-virgil-i) supplied with the raw materials needed to construct its settlements. Vanduul ships have been observed harvesting resources from the asteroids.
