XMPP Chat Client Guide

1. Einen Client auswählen und herunterladen. Es gibt viele XMPP-Clients, die verfügbar sind, diese Anleitung wird behandelt: Pidgin, Adium (Mac) und Xabber (Android). Konto- und Servereinstellungen Je nach XMPP-Client kann die Art und Weise, wie Sie Ihre Konto- und Servereinstellungen eingeben, variieren (siehe unten für spezifische Anweisungen für Clients). Verwenden Sie das Passwort [email protected]: das Chat-Token in Ihren Kontoeinstellungen Server/Host: Verwenden Sie diese Adresse: xmpp.robertsspaceindustries.com Service: die Adresse, an die der Client die Liste der Ihnen verfügbaren Kanäle erhält. Verwenden Sie channels.robertsspaceindustries.com Hinweis: Wenn Sie Ihren Chat-Token später in Ihren Kontoeinstellungen neu generieren, müssen Sie ihn in Ihrem XMPP-Client aktualisieren. Einige Clients verwenden die vollständige Adresse als Benutzernamen und andere verwenden den Benutzernamen (Handle) und die Domäne separat. Wenn Sie Pidgin zum ersten Mal starten, klicken Sie auf Hinzufügen. Geben Sie auf der Registerkarte Basis Ihre Anmeldemöglichkeiten ein: Wählen Sie das XMPP-Protokoll und geben Sie Ihren Benutzernamen, Ihre Domäne (Benutzername und Domäne ist Ihre vollständige E-Mail auf zwei Zeilen, siehe Bild unten), Ressource und Passwort (siehe Abschnitt 2) ein. ACHTUNG: Wenn Ihr Benutzername Großbuchstaben hat, sollten Sie hier Kleinbuchstaben verwenden. Fügen Sie dann auf der Registerkarte Erweitert die Serveradresse hinzu (siehe Abschnitt 2). Sobald deine Einstellungen festgelegt sind, kannst du einem Chatraum beitreten. Gehen Sie in Buddies / nehmen Sie an einem Chat teil. Geben Sie im Feld "Raum" den Kanalnamen ein. Eine Liste der verfügbaren Räume finden Sie auch unter Raumliste. Um die Meldung "Join / Part" auf Pidgin zu deaktivieren, müssen Sie unter "Plugins" > "Join/part hiding" > Configure Plugin gehen. Richten Sie Ihr Login ein (siehe Abschnitt 2). Nach der Einstellung gehen Sie in das Adium-Menü / Einstellungen. Füllen Sie auf der Registerkarte Optionen den Connect Server aus (siehe Abschnitt 2) und klicken Sie dann auf OK. Klicken Sie im Menü Datei auf Gruppen-Chat. Geben Sie den Namen des Chatraums und den Server ein (verwenden Sie den Service-Server, siehe Abschnitt 2), und klicken Sie dann auf Beitreten. Tippen Sie auf Konto hinzufügen. Lassen Sie XMPP als Kontoart, geben Sie Ihren Benutzernamen und Ihr Passwort ein (siehe Abschnitt 2). Tippen Sie auf die Menütaste Ihres Android-Geräts und nehmen Sie an der Konferenz teil. Geben Sie im Feld Multi User Chat Server den Dienst ein (siehe Abschnitt 2).

Account and server settings Depending of the XMPP client, the way you will enter your account and server settings may vary (see below for specific instructions for clients). username : that’s based on your user Handle. Use channels.robertsspaceindustries.com Note: If you later re-generate your chat token in your account settings, you will need to update it in your XMPP client. Some clients will use the complete address as username and some will use the username (handle) and domain separately. When you start Pidgin for the first time, click on Add. In the Basic tab, input your login options: choose XMPP protocol and input your username, domain (username and domain is your complete email on two lines, see picture below), resource and password (see section 2). CAREFUL : if your username has uppercase letters, you should use lowercase here. Then, in Advanced tab, add the Server address (see section 2). Once your settings are set, you can join a chat room. Go in Buddies / join a chat. In the “Room” field, input the channel name. You can also look at Room List for a list of available rooms To disable “Join / Part” message on Pidgin, you must go under “Plugins” > “Join/part hiding” > Configure Plugin. Setup your login (see section 2). Once set, go in the Adium menu / Preferences. In the Options tab, fill the Connect Server (see section 2) then click OK. In the File menu, click on Group Chat. Enter the name of the chat room and enter the server (use the service server, see section 2), then click join. Tap on add account. Leave XMPP as Account type, type in your username and password (see section 2). Tap on menu button of your Android device and join conference.
