Alpha 3.22: Wrecks to Riches
Structural Salvage
Alpha 3.22: Wrecks to Riches was released on December 14, 2023, and introduced the latest addition to the salvage career: Structural Salvage. After you've finished hull scraping and gathering any valuables, components, or cargo off of the derelict you're salvaging, it's time to break the vehicle apart! Using fracture and disintegration fields, crush your spoils into Construction Materials to earn even more cold, hard aUEC.
Learn more about Salvage in Star Citizen here.
Player Hair Updates
Time for a trim! Alpha 3.22 replaces the current selection of hairstyles with 20 new ones, using the latest visual and physics updates from the Squadron 42 character team. This update also includes the first long hairstyles introduced to Star Citizen.
New Derelict Settlements
The planets of Stanton get a little more full in Alpha 3.22 with the introduction of new large derelict settlements across the system. These locations serve as mission locations, new shops, and even a few social spaces. A pair of these new settlements have also made it into Arena Commander as new maps!
Alpha 3.21: Mission Ready
New Missions, New Locations, New Adventures
Alpha 3.21: Mission Ready was released on October 19, 2023, and introduced brand new missions, new points of interest to the gas giant Crusader, gameplay and quality-of-life updates, and another step towards a server-meshed universe. Ready up for some exciting new escapades, and remember, you don't always have to be good; you just have to be good at it.
New Mission: Steal Evidence
Gameplay
This all-new mission tasks players with stealing key evidence from Security Post Kareah, a simple concept but a challenge for even the most seasoned outlaw. Only those deemed worthy by Twitch will have a chance to trigger this mission, but be warned: you snooze, you lose, as the target evidence could already be in the hands of another player. How far will you go for the hefty payout?
New Mission: Retrieve Consignment
Gameplay
In this new mission type, you are challenged to head over to Underground Facilities to locate and retrieve critical items in consignment lists. It matters not whether you're the type to toe the line or if you like taking a walk on the wild side; you'll need nerves of steel to emerge unscathed from these buried bunkers. If you do, expect to be handsomely rewarded for your troubles. If one or two other leftover items happen to mysteriously make their way into your inventory, we're sure no one would bat an eye.
New Mission: Data Heist
Gameplay
Whether you choose the lawful or unlawful path, this mission will put your defensive and strategic skills to the test! Your objective is to infiltrate hostile locations and hack servers to either recover or steal data. Access the main terminal via hacking or use the technician's ID chip found somewhere in the facility to initiate an uplink and transfer data to your handler. But be warned, the mission can quickly take a turn for the worse; it's your responsibility to keep the servers safe (and from overheating!) until enough data has been uploaded.
Vehicle Tractor Beams
Gameplay
Alpha 3.21 added vehicle tractor beams, which allow players to move and tow bigger objects, including other ships. This update adds pilot and remote-turret-controlled tractor beams to ships that support them.
Ship Trespass
Gameplay
This update removes the warning that notifies players of a new presence on-board a ship, making it more difficult to detect stowaways. But be warned, the interiors of players' ships are now considered trespass zones for those without permission to enter. Anyone boarding a ship without permission will be issued a Trespass Warning and can be legally attacked (even with lethal force) by law-abiding vehicle owners and their party. Tread carefully!
New Platform Assault Locations
Locations
Crusader’s breathtaking city in the clouds is under attack once again. New platforms across the gas giant Crusader enable multiple instances of the mission to be run simultaneously, meaning players can undertake the challenging Platform Assault at any time.
New Player Experience: New Babbage
Gameplay
The New Player Experience mission is now available in microTech’s high-tech city, New Babbage. This update includes many changes to make the mission flow better as well as the addition of shops, more location signs, and a full lighting polish pass to the whole landing zone.
Alpha 3.20: Fully Loaded
Cargo Updates
Alpha 3.20: Fully Loaded was released on September 19, 2023, and introduced the next phase of cargo gameplay alongside the current king of cargo, the MISC Hull C.
Coming with the automated cargo loading process for the Hull C is increased SCU container sizes. Now commodities can be bought, sold, traded, and discovered from 1 SCU all the way up to 32.
Arena Commander: Racing
The all-action Arena Commander game module gets its biggest-ever update in Alpha 3.20. Speed freaks of the ‘verse can chase lap times on all-new circuits alongside the official addition of four community-favorite tracks.
Arena Commander: Combat
From Tank Royale to Endless Vanduul Swarm, Arena Commander’s combat update adds explosive new modes that get you straight into the action.
Alpha 3.19: Call to Adventure
New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
Alpha 3.19: Call to Adventure was released on May 15, 2023, and built on the numerous enhancements that Persistent Entity Streaming (PES) brought in the previous patch release. Alongside new features, various fixes and quality-of-life improvements were also made, laying the foundation for a frenzy of action across the Stanton system.
Head into Alpha 3.19 now to experience a more detailed tutorial for newcomers, a fully rebuilt Lorville cityscape, a mining overhaul based on community feedback, all-new locations with loot worth fighting for, thrilling salvage missions for every moral alignment, and the introduction of tractor-beam salvage for ship components.
Improved New-Player Introduction
Gameplay
If it’s been a while since your last visit to the ’verse, Alpha 3.19 offers a comprehensive new-player introduction to get you back up to speed. To get started, select ArcCorp’s Area18 as your spawn location before loading into the PU for the first time. There, you’ll find contextual tips based on your actions in-game and a tutorial to guide you through your first steps to new adventures.
New Salvage Missions
Gameplay
Salvage Resource Rush is a new mission where a faction or mission giver requests the scrapping of a derelict in their possession, either on the ground at a junkyard or in space in a debris field.
Thanks to several mission variants, it offers both lawful and outlaw players new opportunities to earn credits from the Salvage career.
Lorville City Upgrade
Location
With Alpha 3.19, the Lorville skyline has undergone a significant overhaul to enhance the city’s scale and distinctive buildings. The goal for the revamp was to create a new visual identity for the city skyline with high and low-end neighborhoods, improve branding, and add landing-zone signage.
Mining Gameplay Enhancements
Gameplay
For Alpha 3.19, mining has been updated to reward players who make the right strategic decisions before their excursion and equip and plan ahead accordingly.
With updates to tools, ore deposits, refining, and selling, miners must now travel the system to get the best return on investment and embrace the added risks and rewards that may bring.
New Component Salvage Gameplay
Gameplay
Thanks to the latest addition to Salvage gameplay, the Multi-Tool’s tractor beam attachment can now detach and attach components from ship item ports. This feature can be used to either replace components, replenish supplies, or loot other ships.
Visit the full Salvage & Repair Guide for everything you need to know.
PVP Event at Ghost Hollow
Gameplay
The Ghost Hollow settlement on microTech, which features a wrecked Reclaimer, is a new PVP hotspot. Outlaw UEC terminals inside the derelict must be conquered, activated, and held by force to generate aUEC flow for the players in charge. To trigger the event at Ghost Hollow, players must disable the Stanton 4 comm array above microTech, which will send an emergency call to all nearby players.
Alpha 3.18: Lasting Legacies
New Technology, New Careers, New Missions
Alpha 3.18: Lasting Legacies was released on March 10, 2023. The biggest patch to date, it introduces Persistent Entity Streaming (PES) — a significant update to Star Citizen's core engine and the key to the next generation of cutting-edge features and gameplay.
The patch also includes the Salvage mechanic, cargo system refactor, breathtaking new locations to explore, a rework of the classic location Security Post Kareah, and new missions across the system. Furthermore, it allows adrenaline junkies to test their skills in time-trial race missions across Stanton.
All ships were also updated to support "soft death.” From here, ships won't always be destroyed upon death, leaving their hulls salvageable, the product of which can be sold for profit.
Salvage
Gameplay
Alpha 3.18 implements the first iteration of Salvage into the Persistent Universe, where players can harvest Recycled Material Composite (RMC) from disabled ships. Hull scraping can be done by hand with the Greycat Multi-tool or via dedicated salvage ships like the Drake Vulture and Aegis Reclaimer. RMC can also be sold at commodity kiosks for profit. More details can be found in the Salvage & Repair guide.
Cargo Refactor
Gameplay
The introduction of PES enabled the long-awaited refactoring of the ship cargo system, allowing both found and purchased cargo to be picked up, moved around, and placed into the cargo grid of a ship. It also makes piracy and rescue gameplay more lucrative, as boxes and crates now persist wherever they're dropped.
Derelict Settlement: Daymar Crash Site
Location
A derelict settlement on Daymar has sprung up around the wreckage of an Origin 600i and a Crusader Mercury. Not only is this a new explorable point of interest, but players can also earn rewards for completing new action-packed missions (puzzle, traversal, hostile A.I.) around the location.
Security Post Kareah Reactivation
Gameplay
One of Stanton’s classic locations has been given a makeover with new missions and gameplay vital to the security of the system.
The station is now protected by full-time Crusader Security who, alongside guarding the fabled CrimeStat terminal, have begun storing confiscated materials and contraband around the place.
Alpha 3.17: Fueling Fortunes
New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
Alpha 3.17: Fueling Fortunes was released on April 29, 2022, which introduced the support career, refueling, alongside the opening of Lorville’s hospital location, enhancements to mining, selling items to shops, and the introduction of planetary river generation.
All ships have been equipped with fuel ports in this update, allowing you to dock with the Starfarer line of ships and purchase both hydrogen and quantum fuel from another player. Check out the full Ship-to-Ship Refueling guide for details on how this new system works.
Selling Items to Shops
There's never been a better time to get out there and hunt for treasure. Complimenting the release of loot generation in Alpha 3.15, our latest patch grants the ability to sell looted items to most shops through their newly redesigned kiosk. Prices will vary depending on the location and type of shop, so offload your goods carefully!
Mining Gadgets
Further fleshing out the mining career, a new type of usable can now be found at refinery decks around Stanton: the Mining Gadget. These can be used to further alter the properties of the ore you're trying to mine, allowing you to crack open bigger and tougher rocks. Take the risk of exiting your vehicle to place one of these for a shot at a much bigger reward.
Alpha 3.16: Return To Jumptown
New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
Alpha 3.16: Return To Jumptown was released on December 22, 2021, and introduced the Dynamic Event, Jumptown 2.0, along with improvements to grav-lev vehicles, a new hospital location in Area18, and new environmental derelicts.
Across Stanton, three drug factories (one classic, two new) are working overtime, offering enterprising citizens the opportunity to make a fortune. Be careful though, as it’s not just a leisurely grab-and-go hauling job…
Learn more about Jumptown 2.0 here.
Derelict Ship Puzzles
The first iteration of this all-new feature litters space with crashed and abandoned ships waiting to be explored. Inside, curious players are challenged to navigate their way through the wreckage to uncover the loot within.
Derelict ships also premiere laser trip mines that must be disarmed or avoided at all costs. These traps will be available to use in-game by players in a coming patch.
Vehicle Grav-Lev System Rework
Alpha 3.16 improves all grav-lev vehicles in the game, making them more fun to control across the various planetary terrains of Stanton. Players can also adjust the height at which their vehicles hover; bikes will move faster the closer they are to the ground, but the risk of a serious crash on rough terrain also increases.
And there's even more to discover! Read about all the features and improvements in Star Citizen Alpha 3.16 in the official patch notes!

-Alpha 3.15: Deadly Consequences
-New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
-Alpha 3.15: Deadly Consequences was released on November 10, 2021, and introduced a new medical system, complete with hospitals, tiered injuries, and a plethora of medical drugs and tools.
-
-When injured, players will now enter a downed state, where they can call for help and be revived by others.
-The head, torso, and limbs can now be individually injured, each impacting player control and movement. For example, a broken arm impedes a player's aim, while a head injury causes dizziness. Injuries are tiered, with less-serious ailments being temporarily treatable in the field, though all body damage must eventually be healed at a medical facility.

-
-Lootable items
-The loot generation system places dynamically-generated item crates throughout the universe for players to discover. From planetary surfaces to landing zones, it’s worth scouring the corners of the universe to load up on guns, armor, consumables, and more.
-
-NPCs and downed enemy characters can be looted too, so players should always check for anything useful before moving on from a fight.
-
-Personal Inventory
-A major step towards a truly persistent universe, the Personal Inventory physicalizes everything owned by the player and manages it through the new 'NikNax' Asset Manager mobiGlas app. Of course, the size and weight of weapons, consumables, armor, and more affect what can be equipped at once, so now every journey must be well considered beforehand.
-
-Players must carefully gear up before missions, as inventory space is limited. However, ships with weapon lockers and personal storage can be used to store additional equipment, making long trips more manageable.

+Alpha 3.21: Mission Ready
+New Missions, New Locations, New Adventures
+Alpha 3.21: Mission Ready was released on October 19, 2023, and introduced brand new missions, new points of interest to the gas giant Crusader, gameplay and quality-of-life updates, and another step towards a server-meshed universe. Ready up for some exciting new escapades, and remember, you don't always have to be good; you just have to be good at it.
+
+New Mission: Steal Evidence
+Gameplay
+This all-new mission tasks players with stealing key evidence from Security Post Kareah, a simple concept but a challenge for even the most seasoned outlaw. Only those deemed worthy by Twitch will have a chance to trigger this mission, but be warned: you snooze, you lose, as the target evidence could already be in the hands of another player. How far will you go for the hefty payout?
+
+New Mission: Retrieve Consignment
+Gameplay
+In this new mission type, you are challenged to head over to Underground Facilities to locate and retrieve critical items in consignment lists.
+
+New Mission: Data Heist
+Gameplay
+Whether you choose the lawful or unlawful path, this mission will put your defensive and strategic skills to the test!
+
+Vehicle Tractor Beams
+Gameplay
+Alpha 3.21 added vehicle tractor beams, which allow players to move and tow bigger objects, including other ships. This update adds pilot and remote-turret-controlled tractor beams to ships that support them.
+
+Ship Trespass
+Gameplay
+This update removes the warning that notifies players of a new presence on-board a ship, making it more difficult to detect stowaways. But be warned, the interiors of players' ships are now considered trespass zones for those without permission to enter. Anyone boarding a ship without permission will be issued a Trespass Warning and can be legally attacked (even with lethal force) by law-abiding vehicle owners and their party. Tread carefully!
+
+New Platform Assault Locations
+Locations
+Crusader’s breathtaking city in the clouds is under attack once again. New platforms across the gas giant Crusader enable multiple instances of the mission to be run simultaneously, meaning players can undertake the challenging Platform Assault at any time.
+
+New Player Experience: New Babbage
+Gameplay
+The New Player Experience mission is now available in microTech’s high-tech city, New Babbage. This update includes many changes to make the mission flow better as well as the addition of shops, more location signs, and a full lighting polish pass to the whole landing zone.

-Alpha 3.12 - Assault on Stanton
-Setting The Stage For Dynamic Events
-Alpha 3.12 - Assault On Stanton was released on December 17, 2020, and introduced refinery gameplay, new ships, updated planetary environments, new space cloud tech, a multi-purpose handheld tractor beam tool, AI and combat optimizations, and more. It premiered backend tech that enables dynamic events in Star Citizen’s ever-expanding universe. Quarterly patch releases now include new, unique missions and server-wide activities. From improving annual events like Invictus Launch Week to enabling patch-exclusive adventures and battles, dynamic events begin shaking the ‘verse up…

-
-Multi-Tool Tractor Beam
-Hold on tight, the ubiquitous Greycat Multi-Tool got an upgrade with the all-new Tractor Beam attachment. When equipped, you can move objects and cargo weighing up to 250 kg for significantly easier payload management.
-
-In zero-G, the Tractor Beam also acts as a grappling hook, allowing you to travel distances much quicker than EVA alone.
-
-
-Refinery Decks
-Head into the depths of select R&R space stations to find a regular haunt of serious miners and traders alike: the all-new Refinery Decks. Forget wasting credits earned from a big mining expedition. You can now cut out the middleman, refining the ore yourself and gaining all the spoils of a job well done.

-Alpha 3.11 - High Impact
-Experience the 'verse in a new way
-Alpha 3.11 - High Impact was released on October 8, 2020, and brought with it new force reactions and high-powered weapons, as well as improvements to planetary art, expanded prison gameplay, and cargo decks.
-
-It takes an incredible volume of ore, food, and weapons to keep Stanton’s lights on, with most legal hauls running through at least one cargo deck. Located on the system’s busiest trade routes, cargo decks are your new go-to location for ship rentals, hauling supplies, or simply taking a breather during long journeys.
-
-
-Force Reactions
-Alpha 3.11 introduced the first iteration of Force Reactions. Now, players and NPCs will react to gunshots, lean as ships bank into turns, and even get knocked down by big impacts. This was just the start for Force Reactions, with future updates including staggering, knockbacks, and reactions to exterior ship impact.
-
-
-Green Zone Removal
-Green Zones forcibly prevent the use of weapons near landing zones and many points-of-interest. For added freedom, Alpha 3.11 removed them from most space stations, meaning you're free to use your ship's weapons at will. But beware, there are repercussions for bad behavior…

+Alpha 3.17 - Fueling Fortunes
+New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
+Alpha 3.17 - Fueling Fortunes was released on April 29, 2022, which introduced the support career, refueling, alongside the opening of Lorville’s hospital location, enhancements to mining, selling items to shops, and the introduction of planetary river generation.
+
+All ships have been equipped with fuel ports in this update, allowing you to dock with the Starfarer line of ships and purchase both hydrogen and quantum fuel from another player. Check out the full Ship-to-Ship Refueling guide for details on how this new system works.
+
+
+Selling Items to Shops
+There's never been a better time to get out there and hunt for treasure. Complimenting the release of loot generation in Alpha 3.15, our latest patch grants the ability to sell looted items to most shops through their newly redesigned kiosk. Prices will vary depending on the location and type of shop, so offload your goods carefully!
+
+
+Mining Gadgets
+Further fleshing out the mining career, a new type of usable can now be found at refinery decks around Stanton: the Mining Gadget. These can be used to further alter the properties of the ore you're trying to mine, allowing you to crack open bigger and tougher rocks. Take the risk of exiting your vehicle to place one of these for a shot at a much bigger reward.

+
+Alpha 3.16 - Return To Jumptown
+New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
+Alpha 3.16: Return To Jumptown was released on December 22, 2021, and introduced the Dynamic Event, Jumptown 2.0, along with improvements to grav-lev vehicles, a new hospital location in Area18, and new environmental derelicts.
+
+Across Stanton, three drug factories (one classic, two new) are working overtime, offering enterprising citizens the opportunity to make a fortune. Be careful though, as it’s not just a leisurely grab-and-go hauling job…
+
+Learn more about Jumptown 2.0 here.
+
+
+Derelict Ship Puzzles
+The first iteration of this all-new feature litters space with crashed and abandoned ships waiting to be explored. Inside, curious players are challenged to navigate their way through the wreckage to uncover the loot within.
+
+Derelict ships also premiere laser trip mines that must be disarmed or avoided at all costs. These traps will be available to use in-game by players in a coming patch.
+
+
+Vehicle Grav-Lev System Rework
+Alpha 3.16 improves all grav-lev vehicles in the game, making them more fun to control across the various planetary terrains of Stanton. Players can also adjust the height at which their vehicles hover; bikes will move faster the closer they are to the ground, but the risk of a serious crash on rough terrain also increases.

+
+Alpha 3.15 - Deadly Consequences
+New Gameplay, New Missions, New Adventures
+Alpha 3.15: Deadly Consequences was released on November 10, 2021, and introduced a new medical system, complete with hospitals, tiered injuries, and a plethora of medical drugs and tools.
+
+When injured, players will now enter a downed state, where they can call for help and be revived by others.
+The head, torso, and limbs can now be individually injured, each impacting player control and movement. For example, a broken arm impedes a player's aim, while a head injury causes dizziness. Injuries are tiered, with less-serious ailments being temporarily treatable in the field, though all body damage must eventually be healed at a medical facility.
+
+Learn more about Hospitals and Healing here.
+
+
+Lootable items
+The loot generation system places dynamically-generated item crates throughout the universe for players to discover. From planetary surfaces to landing zones, it’s worth scouring the corners of the universe to load up on guns, armor, consumables, and more.
+
+NPCs and downed enemy characters can be looted too, so players should always check for anything useful before moving on from a fight.
+
+
+Personal Inventory
+A major step towards a truly persistent universe, the Personal Inventory physicalizes everything owned by the player and manages it through the new 'NikNax' Asset Manager mobiGlas app. Of course, the size and weight of weapons, consumables, armor, and more affect what can be equipped at once, so now every journey must be well considered beforehand.
+
+Players must carefully gear up before missions, as inventory space is limited. However, ships with weapon lockers and personal storage can be used to store additional equipment, making long trips more manageable.
