Happy Monday, everyone!
Ship Showdown is underway with Phase 1! This preliminary phase calls on you to show your support for your favorite flyable or drivable by submitting an original creation to the Community Hub or on Twitter using #SCShipShowdown. We’ve already seen hundreds of incredible submissions, and can’t wait to check out everything else you have in store! This phase will run until September 7th (that’s next Monday), so don’t wait to get creative and show your love for your favorite flyable or drivable! Remember that you can also participate by upvoting creations showing off your favorite ships – after all, the winning ships may unlock some cool prizes later this year! From there, we’ll slide into head-to-head match-ups between the top 16 ships from Phase 1! Check out the complete details on the main Ship Showdown page here!
In case you missed it, last week Lead Gameplay Engineer Chad McKinney and Lead Network Programmer Clive Johnson joined us to chat all things core tech in the latest episode of Calling All Devs. On Inside Star Citizen, we took a look at how spacescaping is making long hauls through the void more visually stimulating, and went on a hard-hitting tour of the devs’ force reaction amusement park.
Now, let’s see what’s going on this week:
On Tuesday, the narrative team returns with another Lore Post, “IO-North Tower.”
Then on Wednesday, you’ll be able to take a peek into last month’s happenings in the PU & SQ42 Monthly Reports.
This Thursday treats us to another episode of Inside Star Citizen! We’ll be taking a look at the upcoming grenade launcher and will dig in to another Sprint Report.
Star Citizen Live will going live on Twitch this Friday, with a Lighting Gamedev episode featuring Lead Lighting Artist Chris Campbell at 8AM Pacific (3pm UTC). As usual, you’ll also catch our weekly Roadmap update and Roundup, an update to the Subscriber Vault, and the weekly RSI Newsletter delivered to your inbox.
Have a stellar week,
Molly Joseph

As Phase 1 of the Ship Showdown continues, we're calling attention to the Community Hub - the best spot to post your community creations year-round and check out incredible SC & SQ42-focused screenshots, podcasts, streams, and crafts brought to life by backers like you! Comment on and upvote your favorites to show your support for the the creator's work, or upload your own masterpiece to share it with the world. P.S. For Ship Showdown, the Community Hub underwent a small makeover, and is looking a little different than usual.
Community MVP: August 31, 2020
microTech Cinematic by ApoGamer
From the snow covered peaks, to the fields of flowers, to the tech-filled domes of New Babbage, microTech, Stanton’s latest addition, boasts a massively diverse landscape with a seemingly endless amount of places to explore. This is perfectly captured in this week’s MVP, ApoGamer’s microTech cinematic, showing off everything the planet has to offer.
