 The valakkar continually sheds its teeth throughout its lifetime. As the animal burrows through the sand and catches prey, its teeth are frequently damaged. Once a new tooth finishes forming, it severs the connective tissue that was holding the old tooth in place, causing it to break off and fall to the ground. The fangs of the valakkar can also be extracted from the animal's mouth after its death. This fang was exposed to radiation over a long period of time and has developed unusual coloration.

 German Der Valakkar verliert im Laufe seines Lebens ständig Zähne. Beim Graben durch Sand oder dem Fangen von Beute werden die Zähne häufig beschädigt. Sobald ein neuer Zahn vollständig ausgebildet ist, trennt er das Bindegewebe, das den alten Zahn hielt, wodurch dieser ausfällt und zu Boden fällt. Die Reißzähne des Valakkar können auch nach dem Tod des Tieres aus dem Maul entnommen werden. Dieser Reißzahn war über einen langen Zeitraum Strahlung ausgesetzt und hat dadurch eine ungewöhnliche Färbung entwickelt.
